Help with IMF and EML Letters!

Help with IMF and EML Letters!

ALL stationery on this site was made by LettersnStuff.com and is available in IMF and EML (email) Format.

NOTE: Since Using WinXP I've found that EML stationery was not working properly in Outlook Express. When opened, the emails had the "from" address incorrectly filled in!
The problem is apparently due to a security patch for IE version 6.

Microsoft has two downloads that correct this and other problems caused by the security patch. Please see:
Update for Outlook Express 6.0 on Microsoft Windows XP (KB918766)
and also
Cumulative Update for Outlook Express 6 Service Pack 1 (KB887797)

MORE ON EML AND IMF BACKGROUND LETTERS:

IMF Letters are for Incredimail.
EML stationery can be used in either IncrediMail or in Outlook Express.

The main design difference between the two types of stationery offered here
is that EML top border letters will have a row of images
while IMF letters have one image.

Page Layout and Links for Downloading Letters

"Free Letters" pages are laid out the same way.

There is a "thumbnail" image of the letter with the name of the letter and the name of the font used to create the letter typed on the thumbnail.

The FIRST link under the letter is the link for downloading the IMF version of the letter.
Click once on the text link and the letter will automatically download and install into Incredimail.

Incredimail will make a file called LettersnStuff and this is where you'll find the letters you've downloaded from the site!

The SECOND Text Link is for downloading the EML version of the letter.
RIGHT CLICK on the Text Link and select "SAVE TARGET AS"
In the box that pops up, use the arrow (after where it says "Save in") to locate your desktop or the file you want to save the letter in,
then click the "Save" button and let the letter download.
If you save the letters to your desktop you can move them to a folder later!

EML HELP

The main problem with EML stationery is that the format (font, paragraphs, etc) tends to get lost.

If you want or need to keep the letter in EML format, the easiest way to deal with the problem is to type over the "Your Text Here" or if you're replying to a letter to type over the original message.
Don't start new paragraphs etc until you are finished with your message!!

The advantage of EML letters is they can be used in Outlook Express and
Most of the EML stationery at LettersnStuff CAN be converted to OE stationery!!
(SEE "Converting Basic EML letters to Outlook Express Stationery" BELOW)

PLEASE NOTE
If you have IncrediMail installed on your computer, you need to open the program and in the main window go to "Tools" > "Options".
Click the tab that says "Advanced" and UNCHECK "Associate .eml files with..."

Having this box checked makes EML stationery automatically open in Incredimail
So if you want to use EML letters in Incredimail make sure the box is checked!

If you've had Incredimail on your computer and deleted it, you'll most likely get the little window asking what program you want to use to open this type of file.
Scroll until you find Outlook Express and check the always open with option.

EML BASICS

EML Icon

After you download an EML letter it will, by default, look like the envelope in the above image.

When you double click on a saved EML letter, your Outlook Express Email window will open a New Message showing the stationery you've clicked on.

If OE is already open the letter will come up as a new message.

Some things you can do with EML letters

You can change the first part of the name of any letter - just be careful to LEAVE the .eml ending!

As long as the new name ends with .eml you can name it anything you wish
(example: original letter is around1.eml you change it to myfavorite.eml)

You can move these letters anywhere on your computer and still use them.

They will NOT however show in the preview window of Outlook Express unless you convert them to regular Outlook Express Stationery.

Converting Basic EML letters to Outlook Express Stationery:

You can convert BASIC letters, like MOST of those available at Lettersnstuff.com, into Outlook Express stationary.

A good rule of thumb is to use the converted stationery in Outlook Express to make sure it works right Before you delete your original eml letter!

To convert EML letters to OE stationery, open the letter you want to convert, click on File then click "Save as Stationery".

WARNING!! This (saving as stationery) will NOT work for more complex letters that you may get from other sites!

It is safe to convert MOST EML letters available from Lettersnstuff.com to Outlook Express Stationery -- with the exception of some of the animated letters that have solid color backgrounds!!

If you opt to convert basic EML letters you will still have the originals plus the new stationery that's stored with the rest of your regular Outlook Express stationery.
(Located in Program Files> Common> Microsoft Shared> Stationery)

Again, it is best to test the letters using them as OE stationery before deleting the original eml letter!!

Once converted you can use the stationery by either clicking the arrow on your inbox between "Create Mail" and "Reply" and "Select Stationery"
Or, using an open message, click "Format" and "Apply Stationery".

Make sure there is a check by the Preview box so you see the stationery before you using it
